More than 600 representatives of non-public sectors of the economy in the province attended the 11th Congress of Hubei Federation of Industry and Commerce (General Chamber of Commerce) held in Wuhan from Jul. 3 to 4. The meeting learned about the guidelines of the tenth congress of Party representatives of the province for implementation, deliberated on the work report of the tenth executive committee of the provincial federation of industry and commerce, and elected the new leadership of the federation of industry and commerce. Li Hongzhong, Secretary of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, held talks with the representatives before the meeting. Huang Xiaoxiang, Deputy Secretary and Vice Chairman of the Party Group of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Zhang Chang’er, Deputy Secretary of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, attended and delivered speeches at the meeting.

At this conference, Dr. Liu Rong, Vice Chairman and President of HC Semitek Corporation, was elected as the Vice Chairman of the 11th session of the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce.

Mr. Liu Rong, born in 1976, of Chinese nationality, Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Arizona State University, currently serves as Vice Chairman and President of HC Semitek Corporation. Mr. Liu graduated from Arizona State University, and later served as R&D department manager, assistant to the general manager and deputy general manager at Hangzhou Silan Azure Technology Co., Ltd.; and joined HC Semitek in Sept. 2007. Mr. Liu concurrently serves as the Chairman of Shanghai Canrong and Wuhan Yousheng.

Mr. Liu has over ten years’ experience in the R&D of LED light-emitting materials and optoelectronic devices, and has a wealth of experience in the management of LED industrialization. He presided over six provincial and municipal key projects including “industrialization of semiconductor LED chips” and served as a core member in three major provincial projects including the development of ultra-high-brightness green light epitaxial wafers. He was involved in the R&D of over ten national invention patent technologies, and published over 20 papers on international journals. His papers were cited hundreds of times by international peers. He was elected “Wuhan Outstanding Returnees” in 2008 and “Advanced individual for building a resource-conserving, environmentally friendly society” in 2009. In 2011, he was awarded such honor titles as “Hubei Distinguished Expert” and “Hubei Top Ten Outstanding Young Entrepreneurs”.
